Power converter container for Yamama Cement, Saudi Arabia

Conversion of alternating current with mains frequency into traction current for a railroad project

Customer requirements

For the Yamama Cement railroad project in Saudi Arabia, four power converter containers were required to convert alternating current at mains frequency into traction current. The containers had to withstand temperatures from -0.5 °C to +52 °C and be designed for a stable power supply. In addition, a compact, transportable design with standardized interfaces was required to enable quick integration into the existing infrastructure.

Implementation
Production of four converter containers measuring 12.5 m long, 3.0 m wide and 3.5 m high
Robust steel construction for high mechanical loads
Air conditioning & ventilation: adaptation for high ambient temperatures in the area of use
System integration: electrical interfaces and fixing points have been precisely matched to the existing infrastructure
